2012 dates are to be determined; please contact us if you are interested

September is a great time to be in Provence. After a relaxing breakfast, we will set out to explore the area armed with shopping bags, cameras and a healthy dose of curiosity.
  • The grape harvest is in full swing. Tractors pull wagons overflowing with just-picked grapes along quiet county lanes. We will have the opportunity to visit the local wine co-ops and buy wine like the French.
  • The daily market, which moves from town to town, is a hub of activity. We will visit it often, as the vendors change daily, reflecting that particular area’s local cheeses, sausages, meats, vegetables, truffles, honey and crafts. The purveyors bring their artisanal items to market and when their supply is sold out, they head home to begin production on more. We will buy the ingredients needed for our dinners at these markets and also in the local specialty shops. Guests will have the opportunity to follow these ingredients from market to dinner table and help out in the kitchen if they would like.
  • The surrounding villages look like postcards as the lazy September sun creates magical lighting and moods, especially in the evening hours. The vistas in each direction are truly breathtaking. And with the departure of the summer tourists, life in the countryside settles back into a quieter pace.

One of the many things that make Mello Velo unique is that we choose to stay in country homes, creating a relaxed atmosphere of camaraderie, community, and personal space. Bedrooms will be shared, though single supplement are available at an extra cost. All of the homes have spacious living and dining areas where guests enjoy large, friendly meals together.

The grounds also feature

  • Many covered terraces
  • Gardens and orchards
  • A beautiful endless pool

Food and mealtimes are some things we see as the best parts of life - besides shopping and travel. We feel each meal is a celebration of life and each guest adds an important aspect. We hope that you'd take another tour just for the food and think you just might.
